The safety of your children is of utmost importance to all staff members at Dorchester.  Your cooperation is needed during the times children are driven to school and picked up after school.  To insure the safety of all children, the guidelines listed below must be followed.  The Woodcliff Lake Police Department has posted NO PARKING signs around the streets adjacent to the campus.  Please take note of these new parking regulations as the police will be ticketing cars parked illegally.

Although there is a great deal of detailed directions below, it is essential that you review and understand these directions as your child's safety depends on it.

When entering from Dorchester Road, do not go around the circle.  The circle will be closed to traffic after the teacher’s park.  Please follow the diagonal line made by the cones and drop off children along the diagonal and along the curb by the Art Room.  Pull into the line of traffic, release the children from passenger side, and pull out.  For safety sake, please DO NOT allow your child to exit from the rear of your vehicle, or the driver's side. Keep the traffic moving.  There is no passing while in the line.  If you should have a problem, please park on Dorchester Road to resolve it.  For your safety and the safety of others, remain in line and proceed slowly to exit the campus.

    1.     Parents who bring students to school will need to park on Arcadia Road, Rose Avenue, or Dorchester Road.

    2.     If you plan to pick up your child at the end of the school day, please wait outside by the double doors near the Principal’s  office or at the lower level main entrance.

    3.  Kindergarten parents or their designees must pick up their  child  in the Lunchroom at         2:25 pm each day.

For the children’s safety, the upper level circle and drive are closed to afternoon traffic.  All parking is to be done on the street.

PLEASE, do not park in any numbered areas; these are for faculty only.  No parking is permitted in the two spaces designated for the PFA/WCLEF winners.

Double parking is not allowed at any time in the circle or on the street.

Parking is permitted on the right side of the street only.

Do not block corners of intersections as it inhibits the crossing guard’s view of the children walking.

Bus dismissal is on the upper level circle.  Other vehicles will not be permitted in the circle.  All pedestrians are asked to use the crosswalk.

Kindergarten Dismissal - For security purposes, the Lunch room will be open at 2:25 pm for Kindergarten parents’ pick-up only.  Please do not ring the front bell for entrance.

Teachers will be on bus duty from 2:20 p.m. - 2:40 p.m.  Students who have not been picked up by 2:40 p.m. will be waiting in the Main office.

              LOWER LEVEL

A- If you are not parking your car in the lot adjacent to the playground structure, please proceed to the first entrance and wait for your child to come to your car.  Do not exit your car as this delays the pickup up procedure.  Once your child is secured in your car, proceed around the circle and exit Learning Lane. Cars must remain in a single line until a space is available.  Double parking or standing creates unsafe conditions for children

B - On the lower level you may park in the lot adjacent to the playground structure and pick up your child.  You must turn right to exit the lot then proceed around the circle with the rest of the traffic.

Parking spaces located outside the gym are reserved for staff only.

On the upper level all parking is to be done on the street as there are only 4 visitor spaces available.  For the safety of your child please use caution.

Thank you for your cooperation in these very important matters.

    1.  For the safety and security of the children, all visitors must report to the main office to sign in and receive a visitor pass.  This is required by state law, as well as the security standards of Dorchester School.

    2.  In the event your child forgets to bring an important item to school during the school year, please bring the item to the main office for delivery.  Have your child bring his/her lunch and snack to school so disruptions in classroom instruction can be kept to a minimum.

    3.  If you wish to speak to your child’s teacher please send a note to the teacher or access your child’s teacher by using their E-mail address.  Each teacher’s e-mail address is the first initial of their first name, full last name @woodcliff-lake.com (e.g. jfierro@woodcliff-lake.com)

    4.  Please send a note with your child regarding any play dates etc. or other changes to your regular dismissal routine.  Children will not be permitted to use the phone to arrange play dates.  This also avoids interrupting your child’s class time.  Students who are not ordinarily assigned to a bus may not accompany friends on the bus.
