STEM

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to inspire in our students a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics by promoting a spirit of inquiry, an understanding of the physical world, and an appreciation for the Engineering Design Process. These habits of mind will provide our students with the capacity to make good personal decisions and become life-long learners.

Engineering Design Process:

  • Coding & Robotics
    • Spheros & Ozobots
    • Vexcode
    • TinkerCAD & 3D printing
  • Woodworking
  • STEM Regatta
  • Robotics Team

Projects

Rube Goldberg

Using simple machines and recycled materials, students design and build a fun and exciting Rube Goldberg Machine that can perform a simple task in a silly, complicated way.

Carnival Games

Step right up! Students plan, design, and create an original, functioning, and ready-to-play tabletop carnival game that will be fun for everyone!

How slow can you go?

Can’t stop, won’t stop! Students design and build a ramp that uses friction, distance, and constant motion to slow a ping pong ball’s descent down the ramp until it reaches the bottom.

Homestyler

Calling all future House Hunters! Using the HomeStyler website, students get to design and decorate a 2000 sq. ft., 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, fully furnished apartment of their dreams.

Desert Island Challenge

Students participate in a series of tasks to survive a shipwreck on a deserted island.  Whether they are building a hut for shelter or a raft to escape, students are using the Engineering Design Process to plan, design, and build structures to withstand the elements.
